Changing career from a streamer to a poker pro has been a great decision for Dutchman Gilles Simon, who won the PokerStars EPT Cyprus Main Event this evening, along with 10420000, the coveted spadie trophy and the honor of being the first ever EPT Champion. It was back in 2019 that 24-year-old Simon made the impressive move, after winning PokerStars' inaugural Dare2Stream competition and a Platinum Pass to the PokerStars Players Championship PSPC. Coming into the final table as the chip leader among seven players, all eager to become the inaugural EPT Cyprus Main Event winner, Simon was determined to make his new poker career a success. With 162925 already confirmed as his prize, the seven players set their sights on the big pay out, but unfortunately, it was Bjorn Kozenkai who was the first to depart. Despite jamming from the cut-off preflop, his hands was dominated by the Spanish player's A10, which held its own. Then, Russia's Nikita Kuznetsov went out in sixth place before Yannick Schumacher was eliminated in fifth, prompting Halil Tasyurek to leave in fourth place with 358075. Soon after, Andrea Dato's shove was matched by a painful flop which had him head out in third, leaving Gilles Simon and Sanchez to fight it out for the grand prize and the glory.

Ultimately, it was Simon who snatched the victory, making his career change a success.
